Wurst practices

One challenge for the upcoming Milwaukee Archdiocesan Synod might be new rationalizations of why better results elsewhere are unworthy of consideration here. One possible example,
"When he arrived in Madison in 2003, [Bishop Robert] Morlino privately told friends he wanted 30 men studying to be priests within a decade. There were six seminarians then; there are 34 now.

"The Archdiocese of Milwaukee, with more than double the number of Catholics, has 28 seminarians."

But I repeat myself; here's my letter to the editor of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel from ten years ago.

While we're at it, here's my post quoting [and MJS Archive link to] Father Frederick Heuser's letter to the editor of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel from fifteen years ago.

  1. Synod topics by importance:

1)Vatican II award: Which dissadent nun organization will take it this year?

    2) Expectations for this years Call to action conference graciously being held here in Milwaukee (I for one am excited at the prospect of Fr. Dick storming the pulpit and calling for Weaklands return.

    3) Vocations (or the lackthereof): Let us just assume it to be a time of reflection on how formerly divorced spouses are eligable to enter into the Holy Priesthood, a call that married people are being unfairly treated for not being allowed because equality is all the rage today

    4) The Deaconate: can and should women be "ordained" to this, and what to do with so many perminant deacons growing older. Further more what purpose does this serve to begin with today?

    5) Pick a song to sing, brought to you by Terry 8-D

    6) How to avoid talk about the real causes of the abuse crisis and how to continually say that homosexuals had nothing to do with it

    7) A grandeous report by the head of the ACP from St. Matthias on their groups activities and how they are contributing to the new evanglization

    8) Define what exactly is the new evangelization, and how the synod expects this to be carried out by creating a board of trusties that pat each other on the back and discuss how we are being ecumenical now by envocing religous freedom and not the social kingship of Christ

Well there are some thoughts, more of the same,

Can we presume that the next Bishop for Milwaukee will just be that a Bishop and not a metropolitan? My guess, perhaps, but hey rose colored glasses in the soon to be archdiocese of Madison (j/k)
