Archdiocese of Milwaukee faces lawsuit for fraud in sex abuse case

Marie Rohde reported in the July 25, 2008 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
A man who says he was sexually abused in a state school by a Catholic priest with a history of earlier misconduct has filed a fraud lawsuit seeking damages from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

Donald Marshall alleges that while a student at Lincoln Hills School in the 1970s he was sexually abused by Father Lawrence Murphy. Numerous such allegations had also been made against Fr. Murphy by students at St. John's School for the Deaf, where Murphy worked for 24 years.
The church, the lawsuit contends, "affirmatively represented to minor children and their families" that Murphy did not have a history of molesting children when officials knew otherwise and failed to warn others.

Murphy and Cousins are both long dead. The only lawsuit brought while both were alive was dismissed. (see this earlier post)
