To What Extent Was Keynes's 'General Theory' Revolutionary and to What Extent Was it Based on Past Economic Theories?

Aaron Einbond, then a student at Hunter College High School, New York City, New York, at The Concord Review (1996).

"Despite the fact that Keynes portrays The General Theory as revolutionary, several of his ideas can be found in the writings of other economists. For this reason, some critics believe The General Theory is not revolutionary."

See Keynes, The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money, in Great Books of the Western World (second edition, 60 Vol., 1990) volume 57.
