...the congregation was named in honor of the century-old St. Anne Parish in Milwaukee that had recently shuttered its doors.
Pleasant Prarie was and is a fast-growing community west of Kenosha. As I recall, this St. Anne's is actually a revival of the closed parish, which happens to be where I was baptised.
The accompanying photo illustrates what seems to be a liturgical innovation in these parts, Baptism by semi-immersion. There was such a baptism recently at St. Al's. The rite involves dunking the naked infant three times up to her waist. There might be more to it than that, but that's all I could see. We were given no explanation, so I don't know if it's valid [or licit], but there's no denying its cuteness.
P.S. In our time, baptism of infants by semi-immersion could convey the washing away of the diaper rash of original sin.
