Isaac Newton’s life was one long search for God

Marcelo Gleiser at Big Think.

"Newton's appetite for learning far transcended what we would nowadays call science. He devoted a larger amount of time to studies in alchemy and theology than physics. Newton saw the Universe as a manifestation of the infinite power of God, and science was a portal into God's mind. Wouldn't science be more appealing if students learned that scientific creativity doesn’t emerge from a vacuum and, instead, that science has deep ties with philosophy and religion?"

See Newton, Nathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy, and Optics, in Great Books of the Western World (first edition, 52 Vol., 1952) volume 34, and (second edition, 60 Vol., 1990) volume 32.
