White-coated privilege

The Wisconsin Council of Churches posted on the White Privilege Conference March 26-29, 2014 in Madison.

Among the Conference website's sidebar "Downloadable Resources" is one on What is Privilege? which includes this as an introductory quote.

"Privilege exists when one group has something of value that is denied to others simply because of the groups they belong to, rather than because of anything they’ve done or failed to do. Access to privilege doesn’t determine one’s outcomes, but it is defiantly as [sic] asset that makes it more likely that whatever talent, ability, and aspirations a person with privilege has will result in something positive for them."
~Peggy McIntosh
Madison does seem to be an appropriate place of a conference on white privilege, given recent reports that 'Alarming' racial disparities continue to plague Dane County. For example, the 2010 Non-Hispanic Black infant mortality, per 1,000 live births, was 16.9 in Dane County, compared to 14.4 in the City of Milwaukee.

A non-statistical disparity was the Dane County black infant mortality rate compared to the Doctor Notes Provided For Protesting Teachers, some by physicians in lab coats on the grounds of the State Capitol.
