After 49 years, gregarious Father Naus no longer at Marquette, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. Among the anecdotes,

"During one Tuesday night Mass, 2007 alumnus Dan Voors was struggling at the lectern to pronounce a biblical city in the first reading. Naus told him to just say 'Oconomowoc' and no one would know the difference. He did, and they didn't."

This is consistent with my impression that lectors are not encouraged to check pronunciations or otherwise prepare.
