No surprise at all.

Since Sklba's set to retire this year, I'm wondering if we'll be back to one auxiliary, or if we'll get two again. My money's on Fr. Don Hying and/or Fr. Paul Hartmann.

Now you have me wondering if there's a betting line this time.

I would think they almost have to pick a hispanic aux. though Fr. Hying or Fr. Hartmann would both be good. Also Msgr. Kevin Holmes in Madison would be good.

I hope we get to have two aux.'s but with the constant decline in Catholic numbers here, I don't know if we will...

Fr. Hying speaks Spanish, which would be a point in his favor.

Fr. Hartmann is a close to Weakland. Ugh!

Anon above me, you don't know what you are talking about, Fr. Hartmann is top notch

Terrence Berres said...

Depends on whether "a close to Weakland" is a typo.

Terrence....it is not a typo....Weakland would NEVER have sent him for graduate studies if he could not have trusted him. And Anonymous, I know very well what i am talking about. The last thing Milwaukee needs is another associate of Weakland being made a bishop!

Then you believe he was close to Weakland and so likely wouldn't be a close to Weakland.

Msgr. Richard Gilles of the Diocese of La Crosse is a possible candidate. Now that'd be enough shuffling to make me dizzy.

Bp. Joseph Perry worked in the chancery as well, and is certainly no Weakland clone. There's a reason why Chicago has him, and we don't. Same with Fr. Hartmann. He's not a Weakland clone. In fact,FWIW, Dad29 seems to have a favorable impression of him.
