Two of the members of St. Al's August mission trip to Guatemala posted photos from the Los Hogares orphanage and the chapel under construction at Xecoil (spelling varies). See St. Alphonsus Parishioners Live Their Faith by Committing to Building New Church in Guatemala.
I notice we've there helped build a chapel with a choir loft. Perhaps revived choir lofts are replacing the Tonight Show set arrangment we have at St. Al's, with the choir next to the Sanctuary.
The parish has had to eliminate the choir from one Sunday Mass due to declining choir membership, see September 29, 2008 bulletin, page 5. The baptismal font's been moved around lately. Maybe they should try moving the choir in the back of the church and see if that helps.
