The biggest controversy among parishioners was over the use of Euchroutons, since resolved with the recent return to hosts. Visitors also asked me about this issue of matter and form of the bread, and about no kneeling. His skipping the Creed and general ad libbing were questioned or commented on by other parishioners. His back and forth on the form of the prayer after the Our Father got my wife (who isn't Catholic) to stop coming to Mass with me.
On the other hand, I've heard that our new pastor has already been lobbied for even more "Liturgicide".
I did not mention that Aiken also made up his own Offertory prayers and that at least one woman took a host (un-consecrated, thank God) and dipped it into the chalice of (also un-consecrated) wine--also a "grave" error according to RS.
It's not real hard to determine which priests actually believe in the Real Presence and which ones don't; Aiken doesn't.
I take it that your ex-pastor was regularly committing Liturgicide at your parish.
ReplyDeleteTell me--how many people actually noticed?

Well, once the Consecration is invalid by lack of form (the text MUST be what's written...) who cares about "more" liturgicide?
